Hello, I was wondering where I could find a 3" wide squat/deadlift belt (I guess a powerlifting belt). I am only 5' 4" so a 4 inch one goes over or pushes up against my floating ribs. Somewhere Rippetoe recommended to use a 3" belt for little guys but I can't seem to find a quality belt this size.

Also, I was wondering about joint integrity in regard to heavy training (1-5 reps main lifts, 8-10 for assistance lifts). Will training this way without progressing past an intermediate or advanced routine (3 day a week full body most likely; the Texas method or the Starr model) cause one to have [basically] inoperable joints at an older age (say 30 or 40; I am 20 right now)? Specifically asking, are the shoulders more likely to be this way than the other joints as the shoulder joints are less stable? Rippetoe advocates the use of the OH press in his books as a primary lift, would this cause problems if trained correctly (not heavy doubles every workout)? I had a PT tell me once that the shoulder wasn't a load-bearing joint and he has seen lots of football players, etc have shoulders ruined because of it.

Thanks.

I'm not sure about the belt- try a Google Search.

I've been training heavy for many years and at 50 my joints are fine.

I'd drop Crain a line, see if he can get the 4" plain leather done at 3"- he already does special orders for dual prong...
