I know this might be a case of tough apples Rip but without knowing I bought PP 1st ed just a bit over a month ago and did not have a clue an updated version was coming out. I lurk around on other forums and it seems like others are in a similar position.

Would it be at all possible for you to release some of the programming examples from the 2nd edition on your website?

Awesome, just ordered my copy together with "Strong Enough." Thanks Rip. :D

Say, is the new edition going to be available soon from getstrong.ca? Even without a discount it works out cheaper for me due to shipping.

<Flame suit on>

Any chance us legitimate owners of the first edition can get a discounted "supplement" that conatins just the new section?

You're damn right I just ordered that, along with a specialisation t-shirt. I already have the 1st edition, but I'm looking forward to seeing the revised parts & will pretty much buy all of my favourite authors work if for no other reason than to support them. The other week I blew ?105 on almost all of Richard Dawkins work.

For cryin' out loud boys, how cheap can you be?

Rip gives you free online coaching, review of your form, medical advice, entertainment, a community of like-minded individuals, and many other benefits through this forum, for which he expects, and asks, nothing.

Bow up, gentlemen (and gentle ladies), and buy the book.

Show some integrity, how 'bout it!

Fucking typical. I just completed and order for Strong Enough and then I found out that a 2nd Edition of PPST is coming out.
Will it be much like the second edition of SS:BBT in that the information is given with the athlete in mind more than the coach...?

All of these questions would be answered if you simply clicked the link next to the text that says "Preemptive FAQ" in the original post. Do you guys not read?

Yeah, agreed: buy the book. I always buy new editions. I give away my old editions to people that might see the light in the hope that they will purchase the latest editions or spread the word.

This.

I've ordered a copy of the second edition, and intend to give my copy of the first edition away to someone else to help spread the word.

Awesome, I have loved both SS and PP, they are excellent resources beyond just simple barebell training. I hope this book writing has been a worthwhile endevaor to Rip and Kilgore, one could just read through all these posts and find many many happy customers. I know I'm happy.

Just joined up on the forum after lurking for a month or so...

I got my 2nd edition book ordered along with one of the "specialization" shirts.

I love that quote. Mark, your program has worked out really well so far in the 8-9 weeks I've been on it. It feels good to finally make steady upward progress without hitting a wall.

Can someone elaborate on the differences between the first and second edition of PP?

I own both editions of SS and did not regret that purchase - are the modifications to PP of the same caliber or should I be happy with my first edition?

Exactly.

Seriously guys, it's even discounted 20%! $20 is a small price to pay for the book, if for nothing else but to keep it worthwhile to Rip to continue the service he's providing all of us.

Rip: I can't thank you enough for all you do and have done with the books, DVD and this forum. Without your books and help on this forum, many of us would still be skinny, confused weaklings wondering why our arms aren't getting any bigger after completing the latest 8 week Amazing Arm Blaster Routine guaranteed to make you HUGE published in the slick, shiny 100+ page advertisement masquerading as a training magazine. I have been accused of steroid use on more than one occasion since doing SS and TM. I haven't done any fucking curls at all and my arms are bigger than they ever were when I was - I and don't care.

We all owe Rip and HUGE show of Thanks. We can all start by not bitching about the small price of this book. I'd pay $40 for the book. It's worth it.

Thanks for the kind words, eek. I think you'll all find that the 2nd edition is enough better a book that you'll not regret the purchase. Anybody that thinks otherwise, I'll personally buy the book back from you.

Quoted for truth.
I have also been accused a few times of using steroids. At first I just laughed it off and actually considered it a compliment. But then it just seemed like people were saying it to discredit the hard work I put in training.

I haven't done any direct arm work either and my arms have grown enough for people to ask me to give them 'some good arm exercises'.
I certainly will be getting 2nd Edition PP, just not now as I'm a flat broke student.

Thanks for talking the time to help so many people on this forum, Coach. And for dealing with some people in a way that is damn entertaining.
Were I ever in a bar with you, you would certainly be getting a beer.

while we're on the subject of things that would sell like paleo-hotcakes, I would buy 14 days worth of Starting Strength/Rippetoe/Barbell related shirts, and I shower and change shirts daily.

A hard copy of Rip's Quotable Quotes sounds good. It would come in handy during gymrat exorcisms. Imagine the looks on others when we quote Rippetoe like a Bible. A copy would come in handy when exorcism needs to be done on a few gymrats.

Thy truth, oh, how painful be thy truth!

Ordered on tuesday the 8th and got it today the 11th pretty fast from Texas to Los Angeles.

My eyes hurt from reading the book, should I keep reading or reset to the last pain free chapter?

Mine arrived today to Finland. So very quick delivery, thank you. Finally the book has an index. And it looks like a very good index. That was the thing I was missing most in the first edition. So thanks!
