Hi Rip, I will keep this short and sweet
I have just read the new edition of PP, and been planning my run with the texas method.
Here is my question: If I am able to do about 20 chins (@ 200lbs) or about 8 with 40 lbs attached, would a chin workout on the recovery day be too intense?
I noticed that you put chins/pullups on wednesday for your example, and I wasn't sure if the intensity would be too high before heavy bench/press on friday.
I will try it right away, so forgive me for asking a question that experience could answer itself.

Chins will tap in to your pressing workouts, as you'll soon discover.

Rip, would just bodyweight chins on Wednesday interfere with Friday's pressing?

If done to actual failure, yes.

I am following the TM example workout and just did 5 sets of chins to failure on my recovery day. I have never done that much to failure and my back is sooo sore today. I had been doing the madcow 5x5 previously for 9 weeks and thought I was eating enough, gaining good weight, etc. But switching to TM has been a huge shock. Definitely needing more cals.

If done to actual failure, yes.

given this, as a person who cannot do a large amount of pullups, use of bands or jumping pullups to get in the required assistance work would be recommended, correct?

A bunch of guys in the other post are liking sets of 5 across with weight. Try it.
