Hey Rip,

I have been following SS for six weeks now and have made some good progress. However, I have missed four reps for squats for the past two workouts at 167.5lbs. Up until two workouts ago, I have been making 5lb jumps for the squat, but switched to 2.5lbs because 165 was rough for me. Here are two working sets from friday.

Some observations: my knees are sliding forward a bit at the bottom of the squat, I need to shove my knees out more and make all of the forward travel of the knee happen in the beginning of the descent to correct this. Is my depth good? I feel that on the 4th and 5th reps I could be a little lower. If you get an error trying to view the videos just refresh the page, it sometimes happens to me. Thanks.

You should read the book sometime. It will help with the 5 or 6 technique errors I see here.

I've read it, but I'll reread the squat part again. I know I need to practice more with the block of wood.

You have not read it at all. Or at least you have not comprehended it. At all.

Rip are you looking at the guy with the black shirt or the one with the blue shirt? Cause the second one isn't really THAT bad. Just needs to go down a little bit more and use more hip drive.

Still better than 99% of the squats you see on the gym nowadays.

Holy shit. You posted a video with a guy in the background doing assmunch squats, and then you step in after I've lost interest and turned it off and do a decent squat in the foreground. You fool. You owe the Costa Rican a beer.

I just had a sigh of relief that I think many readers on this board also just had. I actually thought the same thing as Pnigro, but since in the 2nd video it was a little clearer who the object of the camera was (although you still have to wait 16 seconds to see the first squat), and that coupled with the fact that my own squats aren't much different than JB52's, I decided I'd wait and see how this thread progresses.

Maybe you could add a sticky indicating that all videos should be of the correct orientation (so you don't have to tilt your head to see what's happening like in the other recent post) and a rule that if there is any lifter in the background that could be confused with the poster, it should be noted. Oh, and maybe a rule that videos should be cropped to remove prolonged warmups when possible.

At the very least, if not cropped, indicate when you'll be coming in if you're coming in so late x.x, though it's not hard to crop.

Take heart, for this thread brought much amusement to another forum not so very far, far away.

Yea sorry about that, should have specified that I was the guy in the blue shirt. I was stomping my feet and getting psyched up before I started squatting, which is why there is such a delay before I squat. I don't know how to crop so I cannot edit the first part out.

The guy in the black is actually going pretty deep compared to how deep other guys who workout there squat, it drives me nuts.

I think if I keep my hamstrings tight, shove my knees out more, and do the stuff Pnigro mentioned, I should be set.
