Coach, I have a pair of Do-Wins, which look exactly like the Rogue Do-Win pictured here:

At the back, the heel is 1.25" tall. I'm considering trimming the heel down so that I can use it for deadlifts, that way I don't have to waste time changing shoes during my workout, and you don't have to read about another fool deadlifting in Vibram FiveFingers (you should try them!).

As you can see in the pic, any trimming is going to remove the yellow sole, at least from the back of the shoe. From your experience (or any of the guys in this forum), is it best to have the cobbler cut it down to size, and then separate the yellow sole from the cut off piece and glue it back to the shoe?

The crepe sole cannot be saved, in all likelihood. The shoe man will cut the sole off, trim the heel, and then replace the sole with a new one. Get him to use a neoprene sole like a "Cat's Paw" or other standard industry replacement neoprene sole. It reacts favorably with all surfaces and doesn't get hard and "polished" like a crepe sole does as it ages. And any day now, Rogue should have the new shoes in, the ones with the 1/2" heel.
