Is the trainer challenging?
Steve Gardner does a "Getting the most from your gripper" ebook.
You can get it here (http://webcored.gripperbk.hop.clickbank.net)

any other sites or books etc that can assist in grip strength?
And can it be done without hurting strength gains on Starting strength

What are you looking for in particular?
I can give you advice if you tell me where you are at with the Trainer gripper you have.

Sorry to thread hijack.
I have thick, small hands. My grip strength is such that my hands give out on overhand deadlifts above 255 and I also have trouble completing pullups (hands always give out before my back/arms).
I checked out the grippers at the local sports store, but those grippers are built for little kids. Too easy. What's a good gripper to get that would last with me for a while?

Captains of Crush grippers are the most popular. I have the Trainer, which they recommend for people who have been lifting but without any grip work history.
