This seems like a good forum to talk about food.

What crazy concoctions have you guys come up with to make sure you're getting enough calories?

I start everymorning with an oatmeal/whey/peanut butter/honey shake. Then after my workout, I'll grab a couple of mcmuffins and have it with 20oz milk.

Typical breakfast for me is:

2 cups of whole milk
5 eggs
2 pieces of bread
1 tbsp olive oil

I read a lot about people having a hard time getting down a gallon of milk a day, but I must be related to Ben & Jerry because I can't get enough of the stuff.

My weight gainer shake:
2 cups whole milk
chocolate syrup
1 scoop protein powder
2 tbsp ovaltine
1 cup oats
1 banana
2 tbsp peanut butter

Breakfast :

Banana
2 eggs
3 slices of brown bread with peanut butter
Oatmeal in a large cup. 500ml
Whey instant protein shake.

I am worried about the eggs though people say they increase your cholestrol by alot.

That's why it's a good idea to get your cholesterol checked regularly.

I would NOT worry about the dietary cholesterol you are ingesting. They are finding more and more each day that your cho. levels in the blood have very little to do with cho. intake and much more to do with consistent intake of JUNK processed sugars and grains in excess.

In short eggs are good.

If you guys are having trouble getting calories in the first thing I would suggest is halt the eating of high fiber foods that fill you up and take forever to digest.

Oats are a great food for the right goals, they are no where near a necessity and the same with fiber

Brother, I don't want to get all familiar with you, but I'll just say that with coffee, it's like clock-work.

My breakfast usually consists of the following:

2 peanut butter (crunchy) and banana sandwiches (2 bananas total)
3-4 scrambled eggs with cheese and onions
3-4 slices of bacon
1 quart of milk (whole, of course), more if need be

mutli and fish oil after I eat

Another thing is I don't see how people cannot drink a gallon of milk a day. At first I thought it would be impossible, especially with the weird looks my wife kept giving me. But it's really not that hard. If you drink a quart with each meal and a quart post workout then there's you're gallon. The way I see it is if you're eating enough food, you will have no problem drinking a gallon of milk a day. Just sayin'.

Breakfast is 24 oz of milk and 3 scoops of ON Whey Protein and creatine. Plus 2 to 4 poached eggs.

I found a nifty little egg poacher at the grocery store for $3. It is plastic, and poaches 2 eggs in the microwave in a minute and a half.

If I forget to cook up chicken for lunch the night before I have a couple of quick go-to meals I can take.

The first one is a roll of Hebrew National Hard Salami and some kind of cheese.

The other is frozen meatballs. They microwave nicely, and taste good too!

lol I'm not a regular with coffee, but I understand the effects you referenced. I really want to make a habit of drinking a cup before hitting the gym...

Oh, and an egg poacher sounds like an awesome idea...

Picked up 2lbs of ground beef last night. Made a bunch of 4oz burgers. Had one double, and one single with baked french fries.

I know I'm going to get slapped around for saying this but are any of you guys
afraid of getting fat? I started SS/TM 4 months ago-coming off the heels of a bodybuilding season/3 shows and have put on 20 lbs (to be expected) but every week I am seeing it "creep" on up. Half pound here. A little more there. This type of training really makes you want to eat but I'm getting scared that I'm going to end up all chubby and icky looking. I'm serious.

Ok. Start slapping away.

Well, I'm in the Army and they have strict height/weight and body fat standards that I must adhere to. For example, I am 5'9" and according to the Army, the most that I can weight without being taped is 184 lbs. That's plain ridiculous given the training I am doing. I can have 24% body fat. When it's time for me to take a PT test and get weighed, I always cut out the milk about a week prior and I don't eat as much. I always weigh over what I'm supposed to, but I'm good on the tape.
Anyway, if I didn't have that pain in the ass every few months, I really wouldn't care if I got a little pudge gut. I've been following the 70's Big site and it has seemed to open up my eyes about strength having a direct correlation to size. Personally, I can live with that because A) I don't care what other people may or may not think about the way I look, and B) I want to get stonger, thus I have to eat more and that will increase my weight.
I guess it all depends on what your goals are and what you are really trying to achieve.

There's what your saying and then how you're saying it. Try not to say "icky" if you can help it.

The thought always crossed my mind. I found that I was getting very bloated (it appeared fat). After some time, the bloat went away (I laid off fast food - high sodium based stuff) and noticed that I wasn't as fat as I thought.
As I progress, I find that I'm caring less and less about fat. Eat good/a lot, keep lifting and you'll be fine. IMO.

good point. I guess what bugs me is that I want to stay in the sport of bodybuilding (I think) but I guess I'm just griping about having to watch what I eat. Can't have your cake and eat it too I suppose. And boy you folk on this forum sure know how to put the food away.......

Yeah if you think 3% is a lot...
dietary cholesterol amounts to only 3% the total number
you need to be concerned about saturated fat, refined sugars and processed foods not the cholesterol in the eggs

My breakfast is usually
2-3 eggs
some kind of cheese
some kind of leftover meat or prosciutto ham , bacon etc..
2 slices of french bread
a fruit
tea

that keeps me going until 11am

I'm a big Proponent of Olive oil, I find it the best way to get all the fat I need, I take 60mil daily, spaced out to 20mil 3 times per day. 10 fish oil caps, and 50g of non salted peanuts. That's essentially my fat intake.

Morning shake consists of 10 egg whites, 30g whey, 5g bcaa, 5g glutamine peptides.

2 chicken breasts for dinner and veg, lots of wholemeal bread and honey throughout the day :)

Also a tin of tuna sometime throughout the day too.

Obviously tonnes of whey too.
