View Full Version : One hamstring tighter than the other... Help me

So about a year ago I messed up my L4, L5 trying to set a racked power clean down too slow (no bumper plates). I've been to the chiropracter many times since then and my back is better. However, my left hamstring is noticeably looser than my right. This causes my right hamstring to reach full extension faster when I squat and deadlift. I try to concentrate on keeping the left hamstring tight when doing the lifts but my lower right side of my back and the area in my back by my ribs on the right side end up taking a lot of the load. I try to stretch really well and have started doing light sets of 20 to try to rehab and climb slowly but I am wondering if there is a better approach. If i try to climb up in weight too fast my strong side takes over and ill usually end up pulling my left hamstring where it inserts into my glute and my right hip flexer ends up sore. Is there a a series of exercises or certain rep schemes that could help me? This is most aggravating .... I would very much appreciate any advice you could give me, sir.

Have you had a massage therapist work on the tight side? The 20-rep approach will not work here since there is no active injury to heal.
