Hi Coach,

Just joined and first time on here to ask you a question so here goes. For the last couple of weeks I've followed and finished your 'typical beginner's program' on page 301 of your Starting Strength book. I've really enjoyed it, hit all the weights you've suggested, I've really surprised myself (apart from the power cleans where I've stuffed by right elbow up which has made me leave the chins out too unfortunately which I enjoy doing). Anyway, the question I'd like to ask you is do I continue with this program or do I go onto something else and, if so, which one? I'm 49 years old, 5' 11" and 206lbs, (I also need to lose some excess gut).

You think you finished the novice program in two weeks? Read the rest of that chapter.

Look, maybe it is because I just got through reading 70 pages of an IGX thread and that Rip is a really nice guy, but these concepts cannot be that hard to understand, people.

Open your eyes and investigate this petty stuff in the plethora of resources that you have. There are almost 22 THOUSAND posts on this board of shit like this. I will soon lose my sanity if this continues.

Thank GOD your sanity is of minimal importance.

Cheers coach, I'll have a good read.

JLascek, apologies for annoying your sanity. We're all learning mate.

Hi Coach,
I'm 49 years old, 5' 11" and 206lbs, (I also need to lose some excess gut).

I am almost 49, a hair under 6'1'', and weigh 214, up from 184 a few short months ago. And I don't need to lose excess gut.

Suggestion: do the program correctly and gain more muscle.

It's just that some of us are trying harder than others.
