I mean if there's a Chipotle around, I gotta get the barbacoa beef with cheese, pico, and hot salsa. But the hot stuff is a lot for the system (ring sting is terrible), so medium is acceptable too.

If it's a sitdown Mexican place, I just go for the biggest burrito combo I see, maybe with a chile relleno on the side. Mexican food in general is made for big eaters, I love it.

The Gilded Palace of Sin is the classic Burrito.

We have a restaurant called the Flying Burrito.

Not really Mexican, though.

It is set up like Subway, but with a LOT more choices. The MOAB is the best. Oh, yeah. Huge.

If you're in Atlanta or Nashville, I highly recommend El Torero (www.eltorero.net). I get the Special ABC, which is two beef burritos covered in melted cheese and jalapeno sauce, lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour cream. Can't be beat.

I used to live and work in Tucson, AZ and I think they have the best burritos as a city. The places I used to go were a roach coach on the side of the road near the military air base and another establishment that was in a sketchy neighborhood. The roach coach was always a happy place for me because I could have a great burrito and have F-16s come in overhead for final approach at about 150 feet. The restaurant was surrounded by barbed wire and nobody spoke english there. I've had burritoes in NM, CA, CO and NV...The ones I remember most were all in Tucson. There's something about the freshness of the torilla and the the handmade ingredients and the complete absence of English during lunch. In NorCal, the best I could find was Chipotle. I hear Texas has some solid examples but I've really only eaten steak or Brazillian Churrasco up in Plano. NC is severely lacking in the Burrito department but then we have eastern NC style Bar-b-que...the best in the world (new thread maybe)

Old El Paso burritos/tacos are pretty small compared to those mentioned, but you can solve this by eating four at once. I only cook variations of this. Mexican food is like ME day - if you rotate enough you never have to deload.

Freebirds World Burrito. Three sizes - regular, Monster and Super Monster. I usually deck out a Monster, and expect it to come in around 1700 calories. And it blows the doors off of Chipotle. But take it from a San Antonian (we have better Mexican food than Mexico) - burritos have NOTHING to do with Mexican food.

Whenever I go to Qdoba I get the naked ground beef burrito with double the beef and a tortilla on the side. Pretty good meal, and since for the naked burrito they use a plate instead of a tortilla, they seem to fill it up more.

Agreed, at Chipotle I get a burrito bowl with extra rice and a tortilla on the side. After I make my own burrito, I usually still have more than half left over (and my burritos are about the same size as a regular Chipotle burrito).

This is what this thread made me do today

Not pictured is the $1 cheeseburger that came along with. It's was pretty damn good for $1 burger served at a burrito place.

You can't go wrong with Chipotle or Freebirds, but Mission Burrito is the best if you have one around.

Why so burritoless?

No Taco Bell in the UK. It's just not the same.

It's been awhile, but that part of San Diego called Old Town was the place to go for what you speak of.
