After deadlifting an uber-impressive 329 pounds, I should scream like a bad-ass right?

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

But then I saw this video and now I'm re-thinking the wisdom of that strategy.

Heh heh.

Similar thing happened to my cousin. Deadlifted a max, then passed right out before he could even set it down. Poor dude's 6'6". Blood had a long way to go to keep up with his head as it rose.

I've since tried to teach him the finer points of letting a little air go while maintaining abdominal pressure ("breathing behind the shield").

Damn, he even falls right into the dumbbell rack with his head first.

I've since tried to teach him the finer points of letting a little air go while maintaining abdominal pressure ("breathing behind the shield").I was having some trouble with light-headedness on deadlifts and snatches, but this seems to have fixed it. Olympic coaches recommend this - as well as bailing the lift and sitting down for a second rather than screaming and walking around near metal objects with lots of corners.

I like how his buddy laughs his ass off as he head dives into the dumbbells:)
