lets say i'm running out of milk and am unable to buy more for some reason. and im going to the gym in the next few hours, when should i drink my last stash of milk for me to fully benefit from it, before the workout or after the workout?
i might sound nitpicky but i just wanna ask if what is more beneficial: the energy you will use from your pre-workout milk, or the post-workout milk stored in your belly for your recovery ? or i am just thinking about too many crap?

I've known too many people who obsess over details like this. The important thing is to be well-fed before training (to fuel your muscles), and after training (to aid recovery). It's best to be drinking milk throughout the day, but If you have to pick one, as long as you've had a hearty breakfast/lunch, I'd say drink it afterwards as that's when your body needs the protein.
It's not a big thing though, your body will be able to use protein from the morning to recover in the evening.

On a somewhat different note:
If you are lost in the wilderness with a canteen, drink all the water in the canteen right away. One of the biggest reasons people die in the wilderness is from dehydration, and when these people are found they almost always have water on them that they were trying to ration. You body will stay hydrated the same way if you drink the water all at once or spread it out over the course of the day.
(I can't cite my source on that, though)

This is absolutely not true. Let's do a somewhat simplified physiology thought experiment...
You're in the wilderness and you realize you are lost. At this point you have a canteen of water and you're euvolemic (not dehydrated). Because someone told you that dead people are found in the wilderness with water in their canteens and given you this terrible advice you decide to slug your canteen. What happens next is that your chemoreceptors will sense the decrease in plasma osmolarity from the liter or so of free water you just drank and your kidneys will not concentrate your urine because you need to excrete free water to maintain osmolarity. Thus you will pee it out so that your body can get back to normal osmolarity. Now you're out of water and you're getting dehydrated and you have a long time to go.
If you wait until you get somewhat dehydrated your kidneys will make concentrated urine by reabsorbing more ions and water. If you sip your water over time it will get reabsorbed and not excreted, thus you can maintain an acceptable water balance for a lot longer by sipping over time.

My army survival instructor (who had previously taught the SAS) told me not to drink anything for the first 24 hours.

Yep. The idea is to make it last and not unnecessarily pee your water out.

Funny...U.S. Army SERE-C course, Boulder Outdoor Survival School, National Outdoor Leadership School, Wilderness Medicine Institute, and a host of others all say you should go ahead and drink the water instead of trying to ration it out.
The problem with the hypothetical physiology experiment you described is that it assumes laboratory environmental conditions. By the time you realize you are stuck in a shithole with one canteen of water, you will be at the point you should drink it.

The situation was hypothetical, but the physiology was not. It's how the kidney works whether you are in a lab or a shithole, or anywhere else for that matter.
Youre right, by the time you realize you're lost, you will probably be at the point where you should start drinking it. Your consumption rate will obviously depend on the environment in which you are lost.
In any case, I dont know what they say at SERE, or if a Medical Officer was consulted regarding what to teach, or if anyone has done any real research on it. I was responding to:

I don't care who tells you that this is what you should do. If they say this, they're wrong. You're not a camel and your body wont hold on to pure water if you drink a bunch of it. Unless you're already pretty dehydrated, if you drink it all right away youre going to piss out some free water, which is a waste. The only situation in which you wont lose water if you drink 1L of water is if youre already down 1L of water.
If an instructor told you to just drink it right away the thought process is that you are already pretty dehydrated and don't know it. So if you are lost in the wilderness the only situation in which you should just empty your canteen is if you are pretty dehydrated from the start.
I'm no scientist like the guys above....
but if you have a little milk left, drink it before your session.
On the way home, buy a BBQ chicken and eat that.
