View Full Version : Partial Deadlifts
Mr.Staley
What are your thoughts on Partial DL movements? I have a tendency to think of them as a load of shit, but I'm the first to admit I know next to nothing about them. I'm in the process of becoming un-ignorant to their proper place in a program and am curious to what you might know as far as the usefulness of these movements. Thanks for your time.

They certainly can have utility depending on goals and context. For example, if your deadlifts typically stall above the knee, you may be well served by focusing specifically on the top of that exercise's ROM

I see your point. Most of the time it's just "bros" loading up to see all those plates on there, though i understand what you're saying. Thanks again.

Correct- often, whether or not something is rational has more to do with the motive than the activity itself

You'd also be doing yourself a favour by asking Charles' fellow colleague, and elite level deadlifter, Phil Stevens whether he likes rack pulls.

Rack deadlifts are one of the best trap builders out there.
