There seems to be a technical problem with part 4.

In addition to being unbelievable athletes, I'm always impressed at how intelligent and engaging Rip's guests are .
As a city boy, I have a question. Is there any feasible way for folks like us to use a prowler?

Sadly we have parking garages in my part of town. Sadly most parking lots are completely full.
My parents live in the suburbs though. Perhaps I could buy one, store it at their place and try to use it when I visit.
Prowlers look fucking awesome.

Great interview, yet again, they seemed like they were having a lot of fun.
After watching that I 1) Want a prowler and 2) Want to press ridiculous amounts of weight

Great interview. And for anybody that didn't get the names correctly, the two athletes names that Rip and Wendler discussed were Alexander Karelin and Konstantin Konstantinov.

Thanks again to all invovled in putting together and producing these videos, as well as Jim for visiting and being willing to do this.
I wonder what the over/under is for how old his son will be when he squats, say, 300#? Anyhow, that was informative and enjoyable to watch. Thanks.

Definetely my fav so far of the series... And yes as soon as the wife caves I will have a prowler to store in my small ass apartment in NYC to push up and down the block.
Great interview. And for anybody that didn't get the names correctly, the two athletes names that Rip and Wendler discussed were Alexander Karelin and Konstantin Konstantinov.
Konstantin Konstantinovs. He's in Latvia, so there's an inexplicable S on the end of his last name.

Konstantin is a beast and an inspiration, same with Karelin. Really loved the interview.
Kinda cool how KK's first name is part of his last name. I should change my name to Donov Donovan....

What a humble man. Very inspirational.
Thank you! You're the man, Rip. Literally couldn't have asked for a better interviewee and the interview itself was great. My only complaint is that you ended it where you did instead of keeping it going.
I read over at Jim's Q&A that you filmed this interview about three months ago. In light of that, I was wondering if you had any more interviews filmed and going through editing and who the interviewees might be. Just curious about what to expect in the future.
P.S.
This one's gonna be hard to top.

What I really like about this interview, and all of them actually, is that you dont only ask questions but you tend to insert your own stories as well.
With the q&a I liked how you avoided the topics that have been beaten to death already. Was a pleasure to watch, even though it caused me to procrastinate on writing a paper...

It's good to get to know these guys beyond what they lifted.
I have to admit that before I started getting into this I didn't think all that much of our very strong friends. Grew up with the stereotype that they were just fat guys who didn't use their brains much.
Struggling with the simplest of technical lifts has a way of humbling you.

By the way, Karelin's Zercher was 440# for 10 reps. Unreal.

You can do the old tyre sled pull in a local park/sports field. Or push a car, put it in gear or on a slight gradient for difficulty. (not tested these methods, just ideas)

What's the article that Rip was referring to by Bob Hoffman, about the history of the press? Is that available online, or to purchase?
Mark Rippetoe

Bob Hoffman hasn't written anything in a while. John Fair is the author.

I like the SSS interviews, but honestly didn't get too much out of this one. I guess it is great just to get a glimpse of different strength personalities, but I would have liked more training discussion. Sections 3 and 4 were best to me. Other than that, about all I got out of it was that Jim has a great beard...
What does Jim weight these days? Around 230?

Jim just finished off a five part interview with T-nation. He talks about all the normal stuff you find in any interview with him (5/3/1 and yoke training). I really enjoyed the change of pace with this video.

Really good, like others have said nice to hear some different stuff from Wendler. I liked the talk of the press. Rip asked to hear about some heavy pressing, the strongest pressing I know of is at a little garage gym, recent comp results here (http://ptcfrankston.com/ptccompresults.html).
"Find me a guy at 198 pressing 350." Well, Chris was 205 pressing 292, Kelly was 178 pressing 267, their strongest lifter is Nick at 243 pressing 314. And the women there, some of them are pressing around their bodyweight overhead. I'm not involved with that garage gym, nor do I go there, but everyone I train (not that that's a big number) presses.
So no-one's quite managing what Rip asked for, but pressing is happening. Don't despair ;)

Kyle,
The guys at PTC are NOT pressing. The title says "overhead", and if you watch the videos, you will see that it is really an "anyhow" type lift. Some perform push presses, some do jerks, some even did jerks behind the head which really lets you get some serious leg drive. So no, these guys are not pressing these weights. Not even close. They are still impressive, just not pressing.
Great interview. I've seen Rip do several interviews but I had never seen Jim Wendler do one and almost everything I've read about him was about 5/3/1. It was nice to get a little insight to what he's really like. He seems really cool and down to Earth.

This was awesome, thanks, Rip.
Jim is a friend of mine and has always been the MOST down to earth guy I ever met.
From Day 1, the guy has been a straight shooter and was always connected to lifting because he loved it, and once again, this was awesome.
The craziness of both of you guys made the chemistry great, ha ha

Who did Rippetoe mention right before they started talking about Konstantinovs? I can't make out the name. Sounds like Lomanovich. It also sounds like he was going to talk about a guy walking 1028lbs out and squatting it in IPF...

The best thing about Wendler's sense of humor is that it's a great delivery system for tremendous insight.
