Any good ideas for a calorific shake? Like the 70s big shake for example:
"2 cups of milk
2 cups of ice cream
1/2 cup of peanut butter
2 scoops of protein powder
4 tablespoons of chocolate syrup"
I hate anything nutty so would never put peanut butter in anything, but other than this tastes ok.
I love milk, but I hate milk with the unflavoured whey protein I have. Hence why I never have whey. I think I should up my protein a little bit now though. Might try chocolate milk with this whey to see if that's any better.
What recipes do you guys have?

I know you hate PB, but this is a classic:
cup of milk
1 frozen banana
few big spoonfuls of natural PB
2 scoops chocolate whey
shot of chocolate syrup

When I want some variety I get bags of frozen berries, peaches, or tropical fruit mixes at the grocery store. They are great to mix with some vanilla or fruit yogurt, milk, honey and 2 scoops of vanilla or unflavored whey.

1 cup half and half (can substitute whole milk)
1 can coconut cream
3 scoops protein powder
1 banana
~8 frozen strawberries
the can of coconut cream is 900 calories, 90g of fat. my powder is chocolate and gives 60g of protein. i dont even know how much cal, fat, and protein the half and half gives, but id estimate 1 of these shakes to be 1200 cal, 120g fat, 75g protein, 30g carbs. theyre pretty tasty too.
finding the coconut cream might be a bit of a challenge. i get them at nino salvagios (dont know if there are any outside of MI) for $1.20/can. try looking at asian specialty food stores.

i can't believe none of your guys add powdered oats to your shakes. adds good calories, and tastes good.
to make powdered oats, just add them dry to a blender. It makes a fine powder/flour. it also reduces the size of them to about a 1/3 of what they are as oats, so they are very calorific considering it is only a scoopful.

Best.

Ever.
I just got a blender today...I never thought protein powder could taste so good.
Now all I need is a crock pot.

If you already have regular bowel movements, such regular high amounts of oats can have very painful side effects.

I make two shakes a day like this that I take to work in a 2L stainless steel kanteen. The shakes are an easy way for me to up my fruit/fibre intake without much effort.

On a related note, does anyone have any suggestions for protein powder with a malt flavor, like in the old-tyme malt shops? There have to be some good ones out there. Or any homemade 'work arounds' that taste like malt?
And yes, I spelled it "old-tyme". Any problems with that?

Look for malted milk powder at the grocery store.

Or you could take your protein powder to Ye Olde Tyme Malt Shoppe

Here's mine:
5 scoops of classic weight-gainer protein mix
3 huge, man-sized scoops of chocolate ice cream
- or vanilla with 2 squirts of chocolate syrup.
2 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter
1 banana
3 scoops powdered milk
whole milk (aka Vitamin D milk)
creatine
Put all of the ingredients into a blender, adding enough milk to fill the blender jar. After mixing the ingredients well, pour the mixture into a standard 2 quart covered pitcher, filling any remaining space in the pitcher with milk.

Nonsense.
It has no different effects then eating a bowl of oats/porridge.
If this causes disruption to your digestion - then you need to eat more fibre.
The fibre in oats has a regulatory effect anyway - If you are constipated it provides roughage (combined with adequate water), and if have diahorrea it provides bulk.
