If it is, in truth, a York bar, it's probably good.

I wish there was a better photo of it - York bars have a pretty distinctive sleeve assembly that can't be seen in the ad.

One of the gyms I go to has a bunch of York bars that appear to be of similar vintage. They're really nice to work with.

If you're known by the company you keep, the old York bars keep company with a bunch of Eleiko bars for Olympic lifting, a "Rip-style" rack, Forza bench and Louie Simmons reverse-hyper.

I don't expect they'd have so many old York bars if they didn't believe they're very good.

If it were me, I'd buy it.

If the "old school 1970's" describes the bar as well as the plates then it indeed good. The old style York Bars are very distinctive and very stiff*

*I came across one once at an old warehouse type gym which has loads of old beat up equipment and has hosted powerlifting meets and oly lifting certs over the years.

Nearly everything at the gym is broken, but the old york bar they have is perfectly straight & the knurling still rather sharp. The collar/sleeve system on them seems very durable by their hefty design too.

Reference this thread. The bar with the goofy-looking sleeves is a York bar. The originals are pretty rare these days. If you go to take a look at this bar and it is one of these, snatch it up.

Looks legit, I wonder why he's selling it? Cos These old schools bars are pretty hard to get hold of, and are known to be fucking ace..
