I was at tesco today and noticed they had 1kg cast iron plates reduced to 54p each!

Compare that to the price of a fractional olympic plate.

I got myself some as I have a standard barbell which I am getting my mum & sister to use and they need some fractionals. But I think they are good option for those using a full size bar too. They could be hung on easily.

DOn't get it, 1kg a plate is not fractional..

I have some small 500g plates lying around in the shed.. I don't understand why fractionals are in 500g and 250g weights.. they're not exactly half of 1.25kg.

I taped on some nuts and bolts to make the plates 625g each.

Cost.. FREE. All materials were found lying around the shed.

I've found the pound to kilo transition to be a pain, and Tigger just hit on the reason why. If 5 lbs gain per session is the goal, I need two 1.25kg plates to be about right, 5.1 lbs. But if I have to go fractional, they just don't make plates less than 1.25kg in oly sizes (except at highway robbery prices). I recently scoffed a bunch of .5kg in standard size, now I can get the lift down to 2.2 lbs at a micro level, I can hang them on the hook clamps or do like Tigger with the twist ties. Programming micro gains in something like the press is a pain in kilos.
