My new interview (http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_article_issue/issue_630#sucker-punch-charles-staley) by Nate Green for Testosterone.net is now online. Among other things, I explain how and why I was deported from Canada- enjoy!

Very good read.

I really don't mean this as a backhanded remark, because it betrays my ignorance more than anything, but I found myself thinking "I've just scratched the surface of this guy's Lotto ticket and I'd like to hear more." I was going to ask if you'd written a book but I used the magic of google and found the answer. Three books ordered, looking forward to them.

I like the part in the interview where you mention performance, and your reply to Nate's:

TM: So you wouldn't increase the weight?

Is

Nope. The load is just one variable....The goal of training is to maximize performance.

I've turned towards that side as well. I'll be exploring something in the same spirit once I've run out of room in 5/3/1. Singles, triple progression on strength, endurance. Will be exciting times. Thanks for your interview.

Nice interview coach. Btw I'm curious, what happened with that girl? After all that sacrifice, did you two, hmm, meet?:)

So what if you were planning to do 3x5 and you only hit 4 reps on the first set of squats.
Should you push yourself hard during the remaining sets or call it a day?

Sorry, no. However my understanding is that it is a compliment to be compared to Phil Jackson!

Thankfully, the risk/benefit profile was beneficial for that particular journey ;-)

Personally, if I only hit 4 reps on the first set, it would be a sign that I used an overly aggressive jump from the previous session. On squats I jump only about 5lbs per week. So if I (for example) hit 365Lbs (3x5) on one week, I wouldn't expect to fail on my first set with 370 the following week
