Why the FUCK!?!

I'm trying to download a vid of my knee draining so I can upload it to Youtube.

But the movies on my camera are showing up as pictures on my PC!!! Instead of a movie, it's just the first frame!!!! This has never happened before. What the FUCK am I doing wrong??

Don't mean to sound simple, but did you have it in 'vid' mode? What size and resolution are the 'pictures' on your PC? If they are large high res full screen detailed images, then you didn't take a video. If they are small low res grainy slightly blurry images, something has gone wrong.

I can play the movie back on my camera. Does that mean anything?

Gary, wifey's camera downloads a video AND a snapshot of the first frame... Are you sure you're not just not noticing the video in the same folder?

edit: are you using stupid software that came with the camera, or just browsing to its contents like a folder via "My Computer" (assuming windows machine)

Yeah, try just using a card reader, never use the camera's software, if that's what you've done.

Can you post that vid of your porno tryout while your at it? (no homo) :p

The video files might be "hidden", in a different folder, or perhaps even in a format your PC does not recognise.

Sorry I can't answer anything on the tech front but I do have a question: are you draining your own knee in the video? Cause if so, I'll send you a pair of brass balls like Alec Baldwin pulls out in Glengary Glen Ross.

I drained my ear once a long time ago when I was wrestling and rolling a lot and it's quite a fun experience that I never want to have again. Nothing quite like the relief, though.

OK, the camera takes movies just fine, but when I try to download them using the ZoomBrowser that came with it, the movies just appear on my computer as a picture of the first frame.

I've never had trouble downloading movies from this camera to this computer before.

Almost every camera I'm aware of works like a portable hard drive, so just copy the file from the camera to your computer. Even if it's some screwy format, you should be able to convert it to something youtube-able easily enough via creative google searching.

Plug in camera, go to My Computer, you should see your camera listed.

If double-clicking it doesn't just bring up a regular file-browsing window (it may be set up to load your stupid software) then right-click and there should be a "browse" option, or something similar.

What is the file format of the videos when you've transferred them to your computer?

Gary Gibson

All the movies just show up as pictures of the very first frames and are listed as P101363 or something like that.

But what is the file format?

Looks like JPG.

Thing is, I can play the movies back with no problem. But they're saved as pictures in the camera for the purposes of transferring them to a PC.

Don't know, I'd need to see it in person. Do you have any asian friends? They can help you out.

fucking lol

Gary, what kind of camera is it? Does it have a removable memory card? If so, get a USB card reader and just use that. Then go to the Control Panel and remove any software that you mistakenly installed with your camera. Then take the CD that came with the camera, open your window and frisbee-throw it as far as you can.

I removed the memory card and plugged it into another computer (my cheapo laptop doesn't have a place to plug it in). Same result, everything was saved as a picture. The movies seemed to be saved on the camera, but the card is just seeing them as pictures of the opening frame.

Well, with any luck your knee will keep filling long enough for you to sort your video troubles. ;)

Seriously, what camera is it? Some cameras have internal harddrives. Maybe it's saving the vid to the camear's drive? I dunno, that's a long shot.
