Cheap pendlay's considering currency conversion and postage ($150 total)...plus they arent made for narrow asian feet like the adidas. Got mine delivered in a day's time (today) and they feel great.

On a side note, where do the rest of you in Australia get your stuff from? I was going to buy my shoes and belt from the US but I decided not to be extorted by UPS (the postage was more than the items).

"arent made for narrow asian feet like the adidas."
Adidas is german.

Right. This doesn't change the extremely narrow nature of the adistars.

Not saying it does, but shouldn't it be "narrow german feet" instead?

I think he was just using a general small foot reference. People don't usually equate germans with small feet like they do asians.

Hat is right...I just meant a small, narrow foot, generally equated with the 5 foot tall people that make most of the shoes I and most people in the Western world have ever owned. Mind you the Do Wins are made in China too, but they seem to scale the sizes proportionally length and width ways, whereas adidas doesnt seem to care.

Nice find Mr.Marbles, thank you.
How are they for sizing compared to other sport shoes?
Cheers
I got my belt off ebay if that is of any help.

Nice find!
I got a pair in February, cost me about $230 all up (even at that price it was well worth it), almost tempted to get a second pair.

In my case they fit like a normal running shoe. I have a pair of Euro size 44.5 Fila running shoes, and got the 44 because there are no half sizes, and those fit almost perfectly (about 0.5cm wiggle room at the top).

Dont the China wear a combo of DO-Win's & Nikes? Japan wear Asic's?
Asian feet are no more narrower than any other population. Adidas are more widely used in Europe & USA.

I get my bumpers and barbells from ABC
My cage I got from Gymdirect, it's the heavy duty one.
Other stuff from wherever it's cheapest. I built my own platform, got a C2 rower from some chick on ebay etc ...
As far as a belt goes, try titanaustralia.com for a level belt (though they can be a little pricey, he's got excellent service in my experience). He also sells soft suits and other powerlifting gear.
I also highly recommend the supplement brand BioFlex. 1) Their proflex powder (chocolate flavour) tastes damn delicious and has some of the best mixability i've ever seen. 2) They're an australian company so I like helping them out :P.

I emailed the guy who sells these shoes (link above) - this was his reply -
"The shoes are made in China and carry the exporter's brand: CEH. The heel is 3cm high"
Has anyone ever tried these? And is 3cms a bit high? I want to get some shoes for both Squat and Deadlifting if thats possible (I'm in Australia)

3cm is more than you need for squatting, and way too much for deadlifting.

QWA's have a very good rep amongst australian powerlifters. I have a pair. Dont wear them though, prefer chucks.

The outbaks are a pretty good lever belt for their price. Also Inzer's just moved out here.
When in australia buy whey wholesale (professionalwhey.com.au)

Ok, I thought it sounded too high. Can chucks be bought in Australia - if so can you post a link to the ones that are good for squats/deadlifts?
Thanks

Lol, chucks can be brought at plenty of places in Australia (best place in probably a Converse shop). You want the chuck-Taylor All-Stars. They come in two types, low or hi-tops, which you use is personal preference. http://www.converse.com.au/products/styles/chuck-taylor.html
But you can also go to Big-W and get yourself a pair of Dunlop Volleys, same basic construct as the low-top all-stars but half the price.

I'm thinking of getting these shoes I posted a link to above (the ones with 3 cm heel) and getting them cut down to something more reasonable. Do you think they would be easy to cut down?
Also I would like to have shoes for both squats and deadlifts, couldn't really find a definate answer to this question on the boards. Is 1/2 inch good for both squats and deadlifts?
Also when you say 1/2 inch (or whatever) is this measurement on top of the thickness of the sole, or thats the heel alone? (I'd imagine if the sole's thickness varied then the later measurement would vary)

Hight is the measurement of the heel.
I have the Do-wins which are 2/3 of an inch from memory, and have squatted and deadlifted in them (including a 195kg pull). I'm currently thinking about using deadlift slippers since I've noticed that it's slightly easier to get a better set up without the heel, but the lower height of a 1/2 inch heel might work fine (and I din't really notice this untill I was pulling 160+ for multiple reps), and I'm competing in a PL comp next month so every kilo matters.
Best option is to get the shoes for squats, and possibly a second pair of shoes for deadlifts if you need them. I would never squat in anything but a weightlifting shoe these days.

How does it compare to no shoes? And dont tell me you havent tried. Because I wont understand the thought process which would go to the involved trouble of acquiring a set of squatting shoes but would not try something as simple as squatting bare foot..

I started off squatting barefoot. And having a heel of some sort is far superior.
I went to the store and picked mine up. $120, and they've been a great shoe so far.
Recommend anyone based in Melbourne to go down to Richmond and check out their store.

I've actually never tried barefoot for squats, and can't see the point of trying now since my shoes work so well.
One statistic that i heard recently was that at the 2007 IPF world champs only 4 out of 150 lifters didn't wear weightlifting shoes for the squat (although this was only anecdotally).

People who squat barefoot should get a well placed kick in the nuts.
They only do it to excuse their weak ass squats... Makes me wanna drop a plate on their feet everytime I see it.
Fucking hippies...

Okay, I recieved the shoes (from Queensland weightlifting Ass) Haven't lifted in them yet, but, there is absolutly no arch support inside. Should I put something inside to fix this or will the mushyness nullify the whole point of getting them?
Also the heel is 3cms (1 1/3 inch) thats including the rubber sole bit. Just the wood is 1 inch. Should I head to a cobbler?

They aren't ment to have arch support, that's the purpose of having a flat sole (and unless you have f-up feet your feet shouldn't need arch support).
Try squatting in them first, you'll soon figure out if they need lowering.
