Just wanted to reply to some threads about gyms in my city, so I joined a uk training forum.

The posts were a little surprising:

Hi all ,
i'm planning on trying insulin and i am trying to get as much advice on it as possible ie: how much to take , diet when on it and i know it can lead to coma and ultimately DEATH , so i need to know the danger signs and what to look out for and how to hopefully be as safe as can be on it .I know a few people on it and i know one of the guys has been hospitalized a few times on it but they are pretty reluctant to give any info on it so hopefully you guys can give me good safe advice other than DON'T DO IT.I have been taking steroids for a few years now and i feel ready now to try insulin but would like to minimize the risks as much as i can.

Cheers
Badboy

Dude:

squats today oh oh
Gonna be 3 days till I can walk properly after leg session today but they gotta be done!

Bro:

dont train again till you stop aching, imo even if you train chest next workout youre slowing down recovery and ergo growth..
remember youre training naturally bud...
(2nd guy is a professional personal trainer)

The whole thing is a massive facepalm. Everyone seems to be on several types of gear before getting the grasp's of basic training. They all seem to be massively into "toning" too, which consists of zillion repetition crunches and a low protein, carb rich diet.

Im really unfamiliar with these sorts of folk, but I think they mainly reside in the north of the UK in places like Wigan. Luckily, in my local area (very culturally mixed) even the douchiest bros still do bench press as their main exercise, and most will deadlift & do pull ups with big weights. And no one seems overtly into the vanity of bodybuilding.

But am I to understand, that this is what some of you guys have to deal with? In person everytime you go to the gym?

Learn to cut that shit out that doesn't help you, and focus on the stuff that does.

I was sucked in to begin with and started replying to really basic questions, but then I realised every single post on the site is the same. There seems to be no sense & logic among the whole thing.

Ive banned myself from returning, its futile. I cannot imagine BBdotCom being any worse. I just never realised quite how big the Chav BB scene was in the UK. I guess they are like the British version of Guido's.

I don't wanna post the site link, but I found it just by googling part of the first post.

The squat thread is weird. It has a link to a video of a skinny guy squatting 135 for a bunch of reps and then collapsing at the end. There seems to be additional weight chained to the bar for some reason.

I was rambling a little (herman).

That video was actually an advert for his personal training business.
He said he only used trap bar for legs now, I said that would work well standing on a box.

His reply:

i dont think using an extended range for any exercise is a good idea tbh,

Quite, there's a lot of stupid shit on the internet. Don't let it annoy you, you can't argue with them all. ;)
