Hello,

I saw some of your youtube vids and thought maybe you could help with a form issue on my snatch.

I think i am catching the bar high, then dropping into the bottom position of the snatch.

In order to keep the bar close i use the cue 'touch shirt on the way up', and to keep the pull powerful i use the cue 'jump back'.

Any ideas on what cues/thoughts i should use to catch the bar in a nice low position?

many thanks,

Realize that only very skilled lifters actually catch the bar low- most people catch the bar in a higher squat and then ride it down into a low squat.

I'm not sure if you've seen this cue of mine on You Tube, but imagine that there's a button above your head that you can only reach if you stretch up very tall. When the top of your head hits the button, it releases a trap door that you then fall through.

The value of this cue is that is consolidates two concepts (finishing the pull and dropping into a squat) into a single cue.

Lots more like that here (http://staleytraining.com/store/dvds-and-videos/olympic-lifting-dvd.htm) BTW

I found this cue really valuable for my power cleans on SS (at least the former part, since the lift doesn't involve the squat). I realized in my last couple sessions that I had really been short-changing the pull on the PCs. Makes it much easier for me to get my long-ass arms into a good rack position with nice, high elbows.
