I call myself the nerdy lifter for one reason. I MAKE RESEARCH ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!
Anyways, this will be my journey. My real name is Brian, 16 years old, birthday is on october 27th. My current lifts right now are:
Power squat = 350 lbs.
Conventional Deadlift = 380 lbs.
Bench press = 245 lbs.
Ya'll have a nice day! I hope ya'll reach your goals and become the best at what you're doing. I know you can do it, it's just a matter of research....... And of course, some other factors. But either way, good luck!

My training session yesterday wasn't bad. Although the supervisor in my high school weight room left early, (which caused us to go home early too!) I still managed to do my Max Effort rack pulls. The bar was about 7 inches higher than regular deads.
Rack pulls = (I worked up to a max double of 385 lbs, almost a triple! But my back started to round at the last rep so I decided to quit it.)
Right after school, I'll do max effort leg extensions. Yes, I know it's weird, but I want my quads to be freaky strong. It's for a stronger roundhouse kick. I wanna be an MMA fighter too though...:o

I'll resume my workout later. I'll do heavy triples on leg extensions.:p

I've managed to do three singles with 285 lbs. for leg extensions yesterday. I thought I could do a triple with it but I was wrong...
Anyways, I also added bench presses yesterday. It was really sloppy, I could'n't break my PR. I think it had something to do with the groove cause when I was doing the eccentric phase, I could barely control it! ANd when I did the concentric phase, I got really sloppy and couldn't do things the right way. The groove was bumpy, it sucks. I used to lift 230 lbs. for a double, but I only managed to do one rep with it....
After bench presses, I did some behind the neck presses, and some lat pulldowns. I supersetted them, hoping I would finish before the lazy supervisors in my weightroom decides to leave. Unfortunately, they did. I only managed to do two supersets. This really sucks...
Leg extensions: I worked up to three heavy singles with 285 lbs.
Bench presses: Worked up to a single with 230 lbs.
Behind the neck presses supersetted with lat pulldowns: 9 reps each, behind the neck presses was about 85 lbs. lat pulldowns was 180 lbs. I did two total sets, and I didn't even finish... I wanted to do atleast 5 sets for the day but, I guess I'll continue my workout later. I'm also gonna add some core work.

Guess what? It's rack pull day!!
This is what I hope for today:
Rack pulls (7 inches above the floor) = 385 lbs. for 3 reps.
I hope I can make it...:o

My rack pull day turned out great!
Rack pulls(7 inches above the floor): worked up to a max triple for 385lbs.
Leg extensions: I couldn't break my PR(285x1, 3 sets. I tried for a fourth set but I didn't make it...)

Yesterday was bench press day. I did inclined bench presses for my max effort:
45 degree inclined bench presses = worked up to a max single for 165 lbs.
Behind the neck presses =
8x85
7x85
7x85
6x85
5x85
Chin ups(Palms facing my face): 5 sets of 8 reps. I couldn't remember clearly but that's kinda what I did.

Today is whatever day. I'll do whatever I feel like, as long as it's not overtraining...
Light leg extensions perhaps, or some bench presses with the bar only. I dunno.
......I think I'll spend my time inventing a new exercise!:D

Today is a rack pull day. I'll shoot for 395 pounds later for a max triple. I'll also do some parallel front squats later for my quads. Probably a max triple...
I did some bicep and ab workouts last friday. My bicep workout was awesome! I've never tried inclined dumbbell curls before, but when I did, (which was last friday) the pump was unbelieveable!
Inclined dumbbell curls:
(I couldn't remember the weight I used) x 8
(I couldn't remember the weight I used) x 5
(I couldn't remember the weight I used) x 4
(I couldn't remember the weight I used) x 3
I did some declined sit-ups for my abs.

I got 395 for a double on rack pulls, I supersetted them with front squats:
Rack pulls (7 inches higher from the floor):
225x15
295x3
300x3
315x3
395x2
385x2
385x2
385x1
Front squats (Stopped at parallel):
135x10
155x3
175x3
185x3
245x3
255x3
255x3
255x2
Overall, it was a great workout. I'm happy with the results. But next time, I'll do raw power squats instead of rack pulls. I'll have my stance very wide.

Yesterday was another bench press day. I managed to do 165 pounds for a double!
45 degree inclined bench presses =
95x10
115x3
125x3
135x3
165x2
165x1
165x1 (barely)
I also did some behind the neck presses and boy, I think I've gotten quite stronger with it:
Behind the neck presses =
85x10
95x8
95x6
95x5
95x4
Close grip chin-ups =
(Bodyweight)x8
(Bodyweight)x6
(Bodyweight)x4
(Bodyweight)x4
I'm not quite sure if I posted the right stats for the close-grip chin-ups, but what the hell, it's close enough.:p
powerandvelocity
05-15-2008, 09:33 AM
Power squats =
225x8 (warm-up)
275x10
275x8
I wasn't satisfied. I wanted to workout more but... I felt so lazy afterwards.:(

I didn't do anything strenuous yesterday. It was all lightweight deadlifts:
Conventional deadlifts:
225x4
225x4
225x5
225x5
225x5
225x5
I lifted the 225 in a way where it made me look like I'm doing dynamic effort or plyometrics. It was all done explosively.

I will work on my triceps today. Nothing too heavy. Probably some 6 rep close grip bench presses.:)

:)
This day will be an attempt to do a 275 pound front squat for a triple! Plus, I will try to see if my deadlift went up. I'll attempt 385 for a single.:D
powerandvelocity
05-20-2008, 04:28 PM
My deadlift was still at 385. I think I could've done more though. But instead, I settled for something safer. Yesterday, I worked up to a 1 rep max of 385 pounds for my deadlift. I kinda screwed up on my front squat. I think my deadlift has somewhat altered my front squat workout. I supersetted them.
Conventional deadlift =
225x8
295x3
305x3
315x3
385x1
Supersetted with front squats =
135x8
175x3
185x3
195x3
After that, I attempted to 275 for a max single but I failed... Stuck at the fucking hole! I tried another one for 265, but I failed too. It seems that my quads got tired from the deadlift.:(

Yesterday was bench press day. But I did dumbell bench presses instead of the bar:
DB bench =
50x12
60x3
70x3
75x3
80x3
100x?(Failed...)
90x3
90x3
90x3
90x3(On this last set, something weird just happened. I actually felt stronger! I almost got a fourth rep.)
powerandvelocity
05-22-2008, 01:04 PM
I worked my upper back:
Bent-over rows =
185x5(With additional forced reps)
185x4(With additional forced reps)
185x4(With additional forced reps)
185x4(With additional forced reps)
185x3(With additional forced reps)
185x3(With additional forced reps)
185x2(With additional forced reps)
185x2(With additional forced reps)
It was a very intense workout. My lats didn't get sore, but my traps did.

...It was very pathetic to realize that most of the people that I work out with didnt even know what bent-over rows are. I was pissed when somebody gave me that mocking look thinking I'm stupid or something who doesn't know better. He, by the way, is the absolute most pathetic athlete I've ever met in my life! I won't go into details, but he is one lazy guy...

05-23-2008, 04:22 PM
I did DB shoulder presses yesterday:
50x12
50x11
50x10
50x9
50x8
50x8
50x7(2 additional forced reps while my spotter helped me.):)

Today was a total drag. I went in the weightroom to see if I could workout but, to my surprise, there were only 4 people. One was the supervisor, one was a jock trying to make up work for his weight training class, two were a couple making out at the "pansy" section of the weight room. The supevisor had only 15 minutes in him. That's not enough time for me so I figured out I should just do some lightweight squats...
Power squats =
225x8
225x8
Full squats =
225x8
225x8
It was a sad day for me... I guess I should just grab a burger from carls jr.:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I wouldn't be able to train for a whole week. People are doing football drills. I'm not even sure if my weightroom will be open next week. The only sure thing that I can hope for is for my mom to get me a gym membership during summer. That is, if I didn't fail any class, which I'm a little afraid of...:(
Anyways, at least I'm sure that after July fourth, the weightroom is gonna be open at 8-10 am and 5-7 pm for the whole football season!:D

Awesome dance moves eh? Atleast I know I can deadlift more than those peeps. lol. :D

It's a new week. I'm not yet sure if the weightroom is gonna be open but oh well, I don't care anymore. But just in case it's open, i'll attempt a new pr by doing front squats with 275 pounds for a triple.

It was a disappointment:

135x8

195x3
275x1
275x1(failed!)

I forgot to mention that I actually did ME bench presses right after my front squat workout last monday. Here it is:
135x10
175x3
185x3
195x2
235x1(It was one big disappointment!)
I thought I could do 235 for a triple...

It wasn't bad. I did a couple of wide grip pullups and some arnold presses witha few front and side laterals:
Wide grip pull-ups =
(Bodyweight)x5
(Bodyweight)x4
(Bodyweight)x4
(Bodyweight)x3
All done to absolute failure.
Dumbell rows =
50x4(I'm very tired at this point. I could've done waaay more...)
Arnold presses =
50x10
50x8
50x8
50x7
50x7
50x6
50x3
Front laterals =
15x3
Side laterals =
15x4
Overall, it was a great workout.
P.S. = THIS ALL HAPPENED LAST TUESDAY (JUNE 03, 2008). I JUST FORGOT TO POST IT.
