I'm now in official residence here at Strength Mill, and I'm interested in knowing more about you, your goals, challenges, and questions. My forte is what I would call "Simplexity," or the ability to render complex subjects understandable. Along the way, I'll have lots to say about goal-orientation, making the journey from "Exerciser To Athlete (http://www.staleytraining.com/articles/charles-staley/exerciser-or-athlete-part1.htm)," Escalating Density Training (http://www.staleytrainingprograms.com/products/edt-dvd/edt-video.htm) (EDT), behavior modification, and in general, how to improve your life by living it as an athlete.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone, so send me your questions!

Welcome!

I think the first article I ever read about strength training, and olympic lifts was your article way way back in 2004, 'My, that's a nice snatch you have'.

That and the Athens games got me immeresed in watching, but not actually training at the time. Very excited that you are here, and I am sure this echos a lot of peoples' thoughts.

I have a lot of interest in behaviour modification and training targets, and would like to bounce some ideas your way, and hear your thoughts on the matter over the coming months.

That was a pretty good article now that I think of it....thanks for the kind words.

Speaking of snatches:

Anyone ever notice the feeling of accomplishment that washes over you after successfully completing an overhead lift of any kind, but especially after a great snatch?

There are basically two, universal victory poses in athletics? both arms overhead (which corresponds to a barbell snatch), or one arm overhead (which corresponds to a DB or KB snatch).

Or, maybe I'm thinking way too much into this....

On a personal level, and I was discussing this with a friend, there is a lot of truth in that. As much as I love deadlifting and squats, there is some intangible thrill attached to those said lifts.

I remember the first snatch I did of any kind was with a dumbell. This was while fannying around with machines and the such, and I thought this is what I want to do when I train. Lifting heavy things above my head was way much more fun. That is when I found that article, just a pity it took a few more years to really pursue it.

It is just a shame that I can't get my peers off the rowing machines.
