I'd like to be the first to welcome Charles to the board. He will be a great addition to the panel, and I sincerely hope you guys don't run him off too soon.

Thanks Rip! And no worries, I'm sure no one will be asking me if they'll get fat if they do a GOMAD. That's your department :D

Welcome to the mill!
Charles,
As a fellow coach in the S&C field, its great to have you aboard. I definately look forward to learning from you, both as a coach and a businessman. Here's a good opener for you:
Do you have any thoughts on the state of the industry right now, particularly in the direction of some of the "authoritative bodies" such as the NSCA, NASM, etc?

Well, I wonder if these certification agencies really have a significant bearing on the industry at all. Yes, many trainers obtain their certifications from them, and perhaps maintain their CEU's, but I think these processes are viewed as obligatory more than anything else.
With the dearth of high-quality free information on internet sites such as this one and many others, I think the certifying bodies may need to pimp their positioning or go the way of the dinosaur.
Which is a good thing? it's the way capitalist economies are supposed to work? the best ideas prosper, while the runts die off. With each new generation, the gene pool becomes more and more successful.
